With the 85th pick, Ravens select Louisiana Tech pass rusher Jaylon Ferguson

The Ravens needed a pass rusher coming into the draft and with their third round pick on Friday night, they selected Jaylon Ferguson out of Louisiana Tech. Furguson is a potential starter that will help fill in for the departures of Terrell Suggs and Za’Darius Smith.

While at Louisiana Tech, Furguson broke Suggs’ NCAA record for most career sacks with 45. In 2018 alone Furguson recorded a remarkable 17.5 sacks with 65 tackles, including 26 for a loss. His highlights can be seen below.

Furguson has solid burst off the snap and can work out of many different stances. The 6’5 259 pounder is a strong, physical player he utilizes long arms and cross chops to beat tackles’ hands. Push-pull and snatch is his signature move.

Among Furguson’s weaknesses are his bend around the edge and he is considered to be very stiff. Furguson did not attend the combine as he was dis-invited due to a fight that he was involved in during his freshman year.
