Washington Spirit and Reign FC play to 2-2 draw at Audi Field

It was a dramatic second game for the Washington Spirit at Audi Field in another record-setting crowd. The Spirit and the visiting Reign FC played to a hard-fought 2-2 draw in front of a crowd of 17,418.

Ashley Hatch scored on the header in the 30th minute to give the Spirit an early 1-0 edge, burying a cross sent from Mallory Pugh.

Bethany Balcer struck on the equalizer in the 35th minute for Reign FC and 1-1 would be the score at the half. It would remain that way for much of the second half until we got closer to stoppage time. At the 90 minute mark the Spirit took the lead with a goal from Chloe Logarzo in stoppage time.

Right when it looked like the Spirit were gonna come away with a victory in dramatic fashion, Ifeoma Onumonu tied it in the second minute of stoppage time, ensuring the game would end in a 2-2 draw.

The Spirit will head to Chicago to take on the Red Stars this Saturday at 8 p.m.
