Washington Capitals CRUSH Ottawa Senators 7 to 2

The Washington Capitals beat the Senators  7:2 on Tuesday. Statistically, Braden Holtby had 23 saves, but that would not be enough as the Senators scored two goals in the first period.

The Washington Capitals are 36-21-7 are currently in second place in the Metropolitan division. On the other side, the Senators are 22-36-5 and are currently in eighth place in the Atlantic division.

Senators Oscar Lindberg scored his fifth goal of the season at 3 minutes and 16 seconds in the first period. Also, during the first period Anthony Duclair of the Senators scored his 12th goal of the season at 7 minutes and 10 seconds in the first period. Capitals forward Tom Wilson scored his 18th goal of the season assisted by Alex Ovechkin (29th assist of the season) and  Evgeny Kuznetskov  (41st assist of the season) at 16 minutes and 57 seconds in the first period. Minutes later Lars Eller scored his 8th goal of the season assisted by Dimitri Orlov (16th assist of the season) and Brett Connolly (18th assist of the season) at 17 minutes and 50 seconds in the first period. During the second period,  defensemen John Carlson scored his 10th goal of the season at 2 minutes and 38 seconds. At 6 minutes and 15 seconds forward T.J. Oshie scored his 19th goal of the season assisted by Brooks Orpik (5th assist of the season) and Nicklas Backstrom (45th assist of the season). Furthermore, forward Brett Connolly scored his 16th goal of the season assisted by Andre Burakovsky (12th assist of the season) and Lars Eller (21st assist of the season) at 9 minutes and 5 seconds in the second period. T.J. Oshie of the Capitals scored his second goal of the game assisted by Dimitri Orlov (17th assist of the season) and Jakub Vrana (21st assist of the season) at 10 minutes and 33 seconds in the second period. In the beginning of the third period, Evgeny Kuznetskov scored his 17th goal of the season assisted by captain Alex Ovechkin (30th assist of the season) and Tom Wilson (17th assist of the season) at 17 seconds.

With the win, the Capitals play the New York Islanders at Nassau Coliseum on Friday. If the Capitals win on Friday they will be in first place of the Metropolitan division.
