Washington Capitals Draft Alexander Alexeyev With 31st Overall Pick

The Washington Capitals used there first round pick to draft Alexander Alexeyev with the 31st overall pick of the 2018 NHL draft. Alexander a Russian born defensemen who spent this year in the WHL playing for the Red Deer Rebels.

The 6’4, 200 pound defensemen was ranked the 22 best overall prospect of the draft fell to the Capitals, and will have great mentorship with fellow countrymen Alex Ovechkin and Dimitri Orlov. Alexeyev will spend another year in the WHL with Red Deer to develop his skills before making the Capitals roster.

The St.Petersburg native has been one of the best two-way defensemen in the WHL producing 37 points in 45 games this year.
