Villanueva Staying In The AFC North, Signs With Ravens
Alejandro Villanueva is switching sides in the Ravens-Steelers rivalry, agreeing on Tuesday to sign with the Ravens for two-year’s, $14 million, $8 million guaranteed.
The Ravens chose to wait until the May 3rd deadline to sign the 32 year-old Villanueva, as to not effect the Ravens 2022 compensatory draft picks. The two sides had been in talks for weeks as the Ravens chose to not draft a right tackle with the hope they would finalize a deal with Villanueva.
Villanueva is no stranger to the AFC North and the Baltimore Ravens, having never missed a game due to injury since becoming a full time starter in 2016, and has long been a dominate player for the Steelers on their offensive line .
If Ronnie Stanley is not fully healthy to begin the season, Villanueva is a versatile player who has the ability to also play left tackle, and would move back to right tackle once Stanley is completely healed from his 2020 season ending ankle injury.
