George Mason defeated the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 3-1 by set scores of 25-17, 18-25, 25-15 and 25-18. The Hawks responded to the opening-set loss by hitting .346 in the second set and winning 25-18.
Karielys Melendez led the Hawks with 11 kills and two service aces. Shayla Henry added nine kills, while Jayda Hutchins recorded six kills, 18 assists and 10 digs. Arianna Warner Torres led the defensive effort with 12 digs.
Hampton Sweeps University of Maryland Eastern Shore
Hampton defeated the University of Maryland Eastern Shore 3-0 by set scores of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-22. The Hawks hit .212 and recorded 13 kills in the third set.
Melendez led the University of Maryland Eastern Shore with eight kills against Hampton. Jayda Hutchins and Malaysia Shaw each added seven kills, while Hutchins also contributed 14 assists, seven digs and two service aces. Dynasty Andrews finished with a team-high three total blocks.
