University of Maryland, Baltimore County women’s volleyball swept NJIT, 25-22, 25-20, 25-10, on Oct. 4, 2026, in Baltimore. Claudia Llamas led UMBC with 14 kills on .462 hitting and five blocks as the Retrievers improved to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the America East Conference.
UMBC hit .308 as a team, while NJIT hit .081. The Retrievers finished the sweep by hitting .467 in the third set, recording 15 kills and one error.
UMBC Women’s Volleyball Closes Out NJIT
NJIT led 19-16 late in the opening set before UMBC closed on a 9-3 run to take a 1-0 lead. The second set was tied at 16 before the Retrievers scored nine of the final 13 points.
UMBC then opened the third set with a 10-1 run and controlled the rest of the match. NJIT fell to 1-16 overall and 0-3 in the America East Conference.
Claudia Llamas Leads UMBC Attack
Natalie Harris recorded 12 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Hannah Dobbs added 11 kills while hitting .333, along with four digs, three aces, two blocks and one assist.
Grace Larrivee had six kills on .444 hitting and five blocks, while Jalynn Brown recorded four kills on .500 hitting and four blocks. Hannah Howard posted a match-high 18 digs and two aces, and Isabel Ostvig finished with 38 assists and three blocks.
Megan Hunter entered in the third set and had three assists and one dig. Ella McAllister recorded five digs, Ema Djordjevic had one ace and one dig, and Dasia Johnson added one kill and one block.

UMBC is scheduled to play at Binghamton on Oct. 9, 2026, at 7 p.m.
