University of Maryland, Baltimore County Women’s Soccer forward Brooke Clagett was named the America East Conference Women’s Soccer Co-Rookie of the Week after scoring the equalizer in UMBC’s 2-1 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats on Sept. 27 at Retriever Soccer Park.
The freshman forward scored early in the second half after connecting with sophomore midfielder Delainey Proctor on a give-and-go. Clagett beat her defender, cut toward the middle and finished with a shot to the left corner while sliding to the ground.
Clagett Scores in UMBC Victory
Clagett’s goal brought the game level nine minutes into the second half and helped University of Maryland, Baltimore County complete the 2-1 victory over New Hampshire in an America East Conference matchup at Retriever Soccer Park.
She has five goals this season, which ranks second in the America East Conference. Her three game-winning goals lead the conference.
Second America East Weekly Honor
The award marks Clagett’s second America East Conference weekly honor. She previously received the league’s Offensive and Rookie of the Week awards on Aug. 17.
University of Maryland, Baltimore County was listed at No. 167 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings, the highest ranking in the conference. UMBC travels to NJIT on Thursday evening before hosting UAlbany at Retriever Soccer Park on Sunday at 1 p.m.
