UMBC Men’s Soccer Triumph Over UVM After Intense Soccer Match

This past Saturday on October 21st the UMBC Retrievers took on the UVM Catamounts’s for what became an exciting matchup. With both teams having good records so far in this season (UMBC, 6-3-3 & UVM, 10-3-3) it’s unsure who will be the winners. UVM has been sweeping their games so far with 10 wins while UMBC has only 6 but this could be anyone’s game.

UMBC was able to start the game off with a bang as senior striker Alex Wroblewski scored their first goal at 1:55 with an assist from fellow senior striker, Taylor Calheira. This sparked newfound energy in UVM as they prepared to comeback but missed many crucial shots in the 1st half.

UMBC’s momentum continued on to the second half as they scored yet another goal, made my Lasse Kelp to put the score at 2-0. Schulze Solano from UVM managed to score with less than 10 minutes remaining but as the time ran out, the UMBC Retrievers emerged victorious with a score of 2-1.

The Retrievers now hold a record of 7-3-3 and are also the only team that was able to score 2 goals in a single match against the Catamounts this season. Moving forward, UMBC will be playing NJIT this Friday, October 27th at 7:00 PM which is looking to be an exciting match.
