Trea Turner and Asdrubal Cabrera help Nationals earn 6-4 victory against Marlins; recap: 9/20/19
The Washington Nationals have beat the Miami Marlins 6-4 tonight. The Nationals now stand at 84-68 with the magic number to a playoff clinch down to six. Despite some shaky moments, Anibal Sanchez had a decent five innings that yielded six hits, four runs (three of four earned), one walk, and one strikeout. Wander Suero, Tanner Rainey, Fernando Rodney, and Daniel Hudson provided excellent shutout relief.
In the third inning, Trea Turner hit a solo home run to center field. In the fourth, Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run home run to right center field. In the sixth, Victor Robles hit an RBI single to score Howie Kendrick, and in the seventh, Turner hit another solo home run, this time to left field. Tonight’s performances still prove that the Nationals are still in the fight and that they continue to push forward for a memorable first Wild Card game in a few weeks.
Tomorrow, Stephen Strasburg faces Jordan Yamamoto for the second game of this series. First itch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET.
