Towson Tigers vs. Delaware Blue Hens Game Preview

It is the “Battle of I-95” this Saturday as the Delaware Blue Hens (5-2, 3-1), travel south to take on the Towson Tigers (2-5, 0-4) at Johnny Unitas Stadium. The Blue Hens have had a great season thus far and will look to keep up their winning ways. Meanwhile, the Tigers are still searching for their first conference win of the season.

Three Keys to the Game:

  1. Homecoming Home Cooking: This weekend is Towson University’s homecoming weekend. Delaware has been a frequent opponent for the Tigers on homecoming weekend, having played each other on three recent homecomings, with the teams splitting the previous two meetings. Towson has a 24-15 record overall for homecoming weekend.
  2. Get the Ball to Greenwood: The Tiger offense has been pretty stagnant for most of the season. One standout has been wide receiver Jabari Greenwood. The former Kentucky Wildcat has brought the big play ability that was lacking from the offense last season. In seven games this season, Greenwood has racked up 40 receptions for 414 yards with a stellar 10.4 average yards per reception. It is easy to see how much Greenwood has impacted the offense since the next leading receiver only has 154 total receiving yards.
  3. Continue the Impressive Defensive Tradition: On the Blue Hens’ prior two trips to Johnny Unitas Stadium, they have had a lot of trouble putting the ball into the end zone.

As seen in the above photo, it has been almost four years since a Blue Hen has scored a touchdown in Johnny Unitas Stadium. If this trend holds, then Towson has a great chance at coming away with their first conference win over their biggest rival.

My Prediction: The Tiger offense has been very lackluster and I expect that to continue, however, I expect the defense to make up for it and hold Delaware down for most of the game. Towson wins 13-10.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4 PM this Saturday.
