Tigers Smash Pirates. Senior Day Today Against Aggies
They always say that defense wins championships (or games) for that matter. That’s exactly how Towson pulled out the win over the Hampton Pirates. The Tigers used a dominant defense and some very good offense to get the job done.
Sean Brown found success on the ground and in the air. Despite his 1 INT on the day he finished 11/20 with 141 and a touchdown. He also added a rushing touchdown for good measure. The run game was held to under 100 total yards. Tyrell Green Jr lead the team with 10 carries for 38 yards. The pass game didn’t have a huge impact either but Carter Runyon was able to get their lone receiving touchdown. John Dunmore and Jaceon Doss both had 2 catches each for 30 plus yards.
Hampton had a tough day all around. Malcom Mays had one pass attempt which was an INT and was replaced by Chris Zellous. Kymari Gray made their lone big play in the passing game with 1 catch for 45 yards. Ja’Quan Snipes was held to under 100 yards rushing on 22 attempts. Zellous added their lone rushing touchdown 12 carries for 33 yards.
The Hampton defense was able to make some big plays on the day, but ultimately it was not enough. Corey Yeoman led them in tackles with 8. Richard Kramer added a sack on the day to go along with 3 tackles. Jordan White had a TFL to go along with 3 tackles. Tre Everett had an INT and the defense picked up 2 fumbles on 2 forced fumbles.
The Tigers defense had a great day and really deserved some props. Daniel Raymond housed an INT which really put the game away. Myles Brodie also had an INT on the day. Will Middleton had 12 tackles and left the team in that category. The defense picked up 3 sacks with Dion Crews-Harris and Nchabanu Fortaboh each contributing 1 a piece.
The Tigers will play their last home game today. Senior Day is always an emotional day and these Seniors deserve to go out on top. Guys like Daniel Raymond, Will Middleton, Carlos Davis, Nathan Kent, Carter Runyon, Devin Matthews, Ernie Smith, Tyrell Greene Jr, and Keegan Vaughn are all suiting you for what is likely their last game at Unitas Stadium.
Their opponent for this one are the Aggies of North Carolina A&T. A&T sits currently at 14th out of 16 teams in the conference. Their last win coming in September over Winston-Salem University. Justin Fomby is their man under center and has been shaky this year with 1207 yards passing and 7 touchdowns but has 8 INT’s on the year. The run game has not had a ton of success but look for Shimique Blizzard and Cameren Dalrymple to lead the charge. The passing game has had more success and guys like Ger-Cari Caldwell and Anthony Rucker will look to have a big day catching the ball.
For the defense, Kade Moledor leads the team in tackles and Henry Daniel has 4 sacks on the year. Javon Armstrong-Grady is another guy to watch out for and will look to generate pressure all day. The secondary has some good play makers such as David Laney, Karon Prunty, and Janaz Sumptner. The Tigers will have to play like they did against Hampton in order to get this win. If the Tigers win out they will finish 7-5 and will be an overall successful season. GO TIGERS!
