Tigers Fall Flat Against Wildcats

Last Saturday the Tigers traveled up north to tangle with the New Hampshire Wildcats. The Tigers offense fell flat as they could not get on the board until the 3rd Quarter. The Wildcats scored points in every quarter and pulled away 37-14. This drops the Tigers to (2-2) on the year after their beat down in Morgantown. The Tigers trailed by 17 at half, and were able to get 2 touchdowns in the 3rd. However, the Wildcats shrugged it off and took control of the game.

Tyrell Pigrome went 14-28 for 142 and a touchdown to Robert Schwob. D’Kendall James had 3 catches for 52 yards. Devin Matthews continued to carry the rock for the Tigers, and broke free for a 34 yard touchdown run. He finished the day with a measly 41 yards. It’s clear that the Tigers need to make some changes on the offense. Whether it be personnel or scheme. They’ve got to do something to give the offense some life. Ryan Kearney led the defense with 11 tackles, while Mason Woods chipped in with 9. Makye Smith got 4 tackles of his own and added a TFL and a fumble recovery

UNH QB Max Brosmer had a solid day as he went 17 of 23 for 194 yards and 3 touchdowns. All 3 touchdowns went to different players: Joey Cocoran, Heron Maurisseau, and Brian Espanet. Dylan Lube carried the rock for the Wildcats and had 114 yards on 23 carries. Defensively for the Wildcats: Dylan Ruiz had a monster game with 3 sacks and Max Tillet added one as well. The Wildcats dominated early and often as all 3 units shined in the win.

Towson now gets the undefeated Delaware Blue Hens on the road. The Hens are coming off a dominant win over Hampton last week. They also own a victory over the Naval Academy. Nolan Henderson is off to a great start with 14 touchdowns to just 3 INT’s. He makes that offense go and the Tigers are gonna have to make him uncomfortable and hit him if they want to win. Thyrick Pitts has over 2,000 yards receiving in his career and will be a huge factor in the passing game. The run game is a mixed bag of goods as they have a few guys who can tote the rock. On the defensive side of the ball Anthony Toro and Ethan Saunders are 2 guys to watch for to get to the quarterback. In the backfield Amonte’ Smothers will look to create turnovers for the defense.

This is a tall task for the Tigers and they better be ready to play. Otherwise it’s gonna be a very long day for the Tigers. The Tigers will clash with Elon University. Go TIGERS!
