Three D.C. United Players were Named Week 3 Starters on MLS Team of the Week
The last two weeks, D.C. United goalkeeper Bill Hamid was selected for MLS Team of the Week. On the third week of the season, not one, not two but three D.C. United players got MLS Team of the Week starter honors. Those players are forward Wayne Rooney, midfielder Junior Moreno, and defender Leonardo Jara.
Rooney’s recognition is well-deserved from his hat trick on Saturday night against Real Salt Lake. Rooney scored the first three goals in that game. Rooney was also selected as MLS Player of the Week.
Moreno asssisted on one of the Rooney goals and finished his night with two assists, a career-high. Additionally, Moreno assisted on the Black and Red’s final goal of the game from Ulises Segura. Jara assisted on Rooney’s second goal of the game.
