The Washington Commanders have released Carson Wentz
The Washington Commanders released Carson Wentz Monday afternoon freeing 26.17 million in cap space. The Commanders also released Bobby McCain freeing 4.42 million. In total the Commanders have freed up just over 30.5 million in cap space. Hopefully these moves will allow the Commanders to sign Daron Payne to a long term deal or allow them to sign a couple of free agents in a couple of weeks. Also expect a couple more roster moves to happen before free agency starts on March 15th.
For Wentz his career as a starter is probably over in the NFL. In eight games this season Wentz had eleven touchdowns and nine interceptions. His biggest problems are holding onto the ball to long and his turnovers. I do not think another team will take a shot on him to be a starter. He could be a backup somewhere in the NFL, but I am not sure if he would want to do that. For me I am just glad he will not start for the Commanders again.
