The Washington Capitals Protected Their Home House Beating the Edmonton Oilers 4-2
The Washington Capitals have defeated the Edmonton Oilers 4-2 in a great home effort tonight. The young guns who played for the Hershey Bears last year where the real stars of the game.
Travis Boyd has two points (2 assist) and Phoenix Copley was great in-between the pipes stopping 31 shots and earned his second career NHL win.
Jakub Vrana started off the night scoring first for the Capitals in the first five minutes of the game, and Davonte Smith-Pelly followed up scoring a goal from an amazing pass from. Travis Boyd to make it a 2-0 game.
Later the leagues regaining mvp Conor McDavid scored a goal to make the game 2-1 after the first period.
Later in the second period TJ Oshie sniped Oilers Goalie Cam Talbot with a rocket of a shot to give the Capitals a 3-1 lead. Unfortunately the Oilers made the game closer when when Oilers defensemen Adam Larsson blasted a puck that was tipped off of Leion Draisaital to make the game 3-2.
Moments later the Capitals went on the powerplay and Alex Ovechkin did what he does best and scored his 11th goal of the season, and is now tied for the leagues best in goal scoring.
Both teams played hard throughout the third period, but not goals where scored and the Capitals won 4-2.
This game a great game played by both fast talented teams, and beating a team like Edmonton is a great moral victory after losing there last two games in heartbreaking ways. The Capitals play next on Wednesday night rivalry on NBC against Sidney Crosby and his Pittsburgh Penguins.
