Terps Travel to Northwestern in Final Road Game

The Terrapins take on Northwestern in their final road contest of the season.  Maryland has struggled all year on the road and will look to pick up their second win away from home.  The Terps have not had a road win since early December against Illinois.

Maryland took the first matchup against the Wildcats back on February 10th, 73-57.  The Terps dominated that game, led by Kevin Huerter’s 22 points.  That was the best overall game Maryland has played all season and will have to bring that same intensity to take down Northwestern tonight.

The Wildcats are recently coming off a 65-60 loss to Michigan State at home.  They found themselves up an incredible 27 points against the #2 team in the nation, but blew the lead leaving Tom Izzo and the Spartans to make history.  That was the largest comeback win by any team in the history of the Big Ten.  Now, of course, Maryland will walk right into the same building tonight and Northwestern will look to do anything to make up for that massive loss.  It’s going to be a difficult win for the Terrapins.

In the last game these two teams played, Bryant McIntosh didn’t even score.  It’s hard to hold one of the top players in the conference to zero points in back-to-back games, but Maryland will have to contain McIntosh if they want to win.  Bruno Fernando is coming off a crazy 18 point and 16 rebound contest against Rutgers.  Fernando will have to have another big game, along with the sophomore sensations, to pickup road win number two.

The Terps just need everyone to connect all at the same time.  A big issue with these guys is that one man will step up, while the other players will be nonexistent.  With an exception of Cowan, Huerter and Darryl Morsell, everyone has been inconsistent throughout the season.

Terps and Wildcats tonight on FS1.  Tip is for 7pm.
