Five of the Capitals final ten games are against the Metropolitan division. After the 6-3 loss to the Flyers, the Caps now only hold a two point lead over the Pittsburgh Penguins and a four point lead over the Philadelphia Flyers, however the Caps have a game in hand on the Flyers. If the Caps win that game in hand they will have a six point lead over the Flyers. Still within reach is the Columbus Blue Jackets sitting with 83 points, six points out of the division lead as well. The New Jersey Devils, who are the final opponent for the Capitals this season sit at 82 points, seven points out of the division lead. The metropolitan division is a tight battle for the next three weeks of the season.
Congratulations to rookie forward Travis Boyd, who recorded his first point of his NHL career on Sunday against the Philadelphia Flyers. Boyd made a beautiful spin-o-rama move to set up goal number 601 of Alex Ovechkin’s career.
