Sunday is PLL Day

NFL and college football have captured the nations attention as their seasons have gotten underway yet again. For those local to us, the Orioles have also captured our attention having sealed a spot in the 2023 playoffs. HOWEVER! This Sunday, September, 24th at 3:00PM is the PLLs day and everyone should get ready to observe.

All eyes will descend on Subaru Park in Chester, PA as the top-seeded Archers take on the 3-seed Waterdogs. These teams have already played twice this season, splitting the series with both teams taking home one-point victories. While rosters have not been released, we can likely expect full rosters as both squads have had two weeks of rest to get ready for the game. An argument could be made this is the most interesting title matchup in the PLLs brief history.

Archers come into the game as the underdogs despite taking the top seed, having a first round bye and only losing two games in the regular season. However, (looking at Fanduel), they’re only -104 on the moneyline which signals to me that the oddsmakers aren’t really sure what to do with this game. The game total is set at 25.5 and I have to admit, I’m inclined to take the under as much as I hate taking unders. Championship games are tight, this isn’t going to be the 19-18 explosion that we saw in Dallas.

Waterdogs come in looking to be the second team to repeat as champions after Whipsnakes did so in the first two years of the league. Fun fact, this is the first championship game that will not feature either Whipsnakes or Chaos in it. Dillon Ward didn’t play in the first matchup (Waterdogs loss), but did in the second game (Waterdogs win). Neither team had to sweat their semifinal matchups which probably favors Waterdogs because they have prior experience to lean on when things inevitably get tight on Sunday.

So look, the NFL slate is pretty weak this Sunday. What’s the harm in taking two hours out of your day to watch an incredible title game? It’ll definitely be better than the Orioles and Guardians game too. The Guardians stink! Watch lacrosse!
