Stevenson University women’s soccer fell to Susquehanna, 1-0, on Sept. 23, 2026, at Mustang Stadium in Owings Mills, Md. Susquehanna scored in the second minute and held the lead through the final whistle.
Early Goal Gives Susquehanna the Edge
Liv Baczor scored the only goal for Susquehanna, with Amelia Kopp providing the assist. Despite Stevenson holding a 5-4 edge in first-half shots, the River Hawks carried a 1-0 advantage into halftime.
Stevenson Creates Chances After Early Deficit
Stevenson generated opportunities after falling behind early. Jalynn Mayfield-Rice recorded the Mustangs’ first shot on goal in the 17th minute, while Elena Heins and Kailyn Beall also put attempts on target. Susquehanna’s goalkeeper made three saves during the first half to preserve the lead.
Karly Sheahan recorded an attempt later in the opening period and finished with a team-high two attempts, including another effort in the 86th minute.
Sophia Valenzano Keeps Stevenson in the Match
Stevenson goalkeeper Sophia Valenzano kept the Mustangs within one throughout the match. The sophomore made six saves in 90 minutes, including five stops in the second half. Valenzano made second-half saves in the 50th, 57th, 65th, 73rd and 81st minutes as Susquehanna applied pressure.
Stevenson finished with six shots and three shots on goal, while the River Hawks held on for the shutout.
