Stevenson University Names Macaul Mellor Assistant Coach for Women’s Lacrosse Ahead of 2027 Season

Stevenson University has hired Macaul Mellor as an assistant coach for Stevenson women’s lacrosse ahead of the 2027 season, head coach Kendra Herbenar announced Oct. 20, 2026. The announcement came from Stevenson’s campus in Owings Mills, Maryland.

Mellor joins Stevenson University after two seasons as an assistant coach at Neumann University, where she helped the Knights win their first Atlantic East Conference Championship. She previously spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Cabrini University before the university’s closure.

Macaul Mellor Brings Atlantic East Coaching Experience

During Mellor’s tenure at Cabrini University, the Cavaliers won back-to-back Atlantic East Championships and made two NCAA Tournament appearances. Her coaching background also includes work as a Speed and Strength Trainer at Limitless Philly.

Mellor coaches with HHH Lacrosse in Philadelphia, working with female lacrosse players from the grade-school through collegiate levels. Herbenar said Mellor’s coaching experience and background as a former NCAA Division I player will add valuable experience to the Stevenson women’s lacrosse staff.

“I am thrilled to welcome Macaul to the Stevenson women’s lacrosse program. She brings an incredible amount of enthusiasm and passion for the game, along with valuable experience as both a coach and a former Division I player,” said Herbenar. “Her time coaching at Neumann has given her a strong foundation in developing student-athletes and contributing to a team culture, and I know she will bring that same energy and commitment to Stevenson. I am excited for the impact she will have on our players, program, and continued pursuit of excellence.”

Mellor Played at the University of Colorado Boulder

Before beginning her coaching career, Mellor was an NCAA Division I student-athlete at the University of Colorado Boulder from 2018-22. She appeared in 51 contests, recorded 54 ground balls and 53 draw controls, and caused 44 turnovers.

Mellor earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado Boulder. She said her focus at Stevenson will include individual player growth and creating an environment centered on skill development, competition and enjoyment of the game.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to join Coach Kendra’s staff at Stevenson. Her vision for this program is clear, and I’m looking forward to learning from her leadership as we work to elevate the program,” said Mellor. “My passion lies in individual player growth, and I want to create an environment where our team is developing their skills, competing hard, and genuinely loving the game every day.”
