The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs lost 8-1 to the Lancaster Stormers on Saturday night at Regency Furniture Stadium in Waldorf, Maryland, as Lancaster starting pitcher Noah Bremer threw six scoreless innings. Bremer allowed one hit and two walks while striking out seven batters. Southern Maryland collected only two hits.
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs entered the game with a 14-12 record in the series context and a 55-34 overall record. The Lancaster Stormers entered at 10-16 in the series context and 45-44 overall.
Lancaster Stormers Take Control in Second Inning
The Lancaster Stormers broke through in the top of the second inning. Nathan Martorella reached on a single and scored on Joseph Carpenter’s run batted in (RBI) double. Scott Kelly followed with a two-run double. Two errors allowed another Lancaster run, giving the Stormers a 4-0 lead.
Mercedes added an RBI single in the fourth inning to extend Lancaster’s advantage to 5-0. He struck again in the sixth inning with a two-run home run, his fourth of the season. All four of Mercedes’ home runs have come against Southern Maryland.
Noah Bremer Limits Southern Maryland Blue Crabs
Bremer earned the win and improved to 6-5 after holding the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs scoreless through six innings. He allowed one hit and two walks and struck out seven batters.
Ian Kahaloa took the loss for Southern Maryland and fell to 7-6. He completed four innings and allowed five runs, four earned, on seven hits, with no walks, one hit batter and four strikeouts.
The Lancaster Stormers scored their final run on an error in the top of the seventh inning. Ethan Wilson drove in Southern Maryland’s only run with a sacrifice fly, while Ethan Firoved and Jace Taylor finished the game for Lancaster.
Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Set for Series Finale
The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs were scheduled to finish their six-game series against the Lancaster Stormers on Sunday, August 1, at Regency Furniture Stadium. First pitch was scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
The game was designated Family Day, with Kids Run the Bases and player autograph sessions scheduled afterward. The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs have been members of the Atlantic League since 2008, and 2026 marks the 18th season of Blue Crabs baseball at Regency Furniture Stadium.
