The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs earned two spots on the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball Postseason All-Star team, with starter Kyle Virbitsky and reliever Ethan Hammerberg receiving the honor for the second time this season. The league announced the selections Sept. 30, 2026, after both pitchers also made the Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star Team.
Kyle Virbitsky Led the Atlantic League in Wins and Ranked Among Leaders in ERA
Virbitsky served as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs9 Opening Day starter for his second season with the team. The 27-year-old right-hander from Media, Pennsylvania, led the Atlantic League with 12 wins and posted a 4.41 ERA while ranking seventh with 109 strikeouts.
Virbitsky finished the season with a 12-8 record over 132.2 innings. He earned his Mid-Season All-Star selection in July before adding postseason recognition.
Ethan Hammerberg Produced a Strong Bullpen Season
Hammerberg served as the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs9 setup man for most of the season. The 25-year-old right-hander from Columbus, Ohio, also earned a Mid-Season All-Star selection before receiving postseason honors.
Among pitchers with at least 43 innings pitched, Hammerberg led with 13.97 strikeouts per nine innings and a .165 batting average against. He ranked third with 13 holds and added two saves while posting a 4-1 record, a 1.68 ERA, 75 strikeouts and a 0.97 WHIP in 41 appearances.
