Schoop lands on DL, RHP Alex Cobb recalled

Baltimore Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop will not be in the lineup Saturday against Boston due to a injury that occurred Friday. Schoop will be sent to the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique injury, leaving room for the Orioles to recall RHP Alex Cobb, who will make his Baltimore Orioles debut Saturday vs Boston.

Buck Showalter addressed the injury and roster movement Saturday and due to Schoop’s injury, Tim Beckham will move over to 2B while Danny Valencia takes over the hot corner role.

Jonathan Schoop 2018 Stats: 61 AB, .230 AVG, 1HR, 3RBI, & .610 OPS

The storyline Saturday will still be on Orioles acquisition RHP Alex Cobb, Cobb has had experience vs Boston over his career with a 3.43 ERA, and 1.25 WHIP. Cobb will look to settle into his role as a key member of the Orioles rotation that looks to gain some rhythm and consistency as a group.
