On Saturday the Maryland Terrapins hit the road for the first time this season up to Philadelphia to play the University of Penn.

The Terps (2-0) have played well so far this season with a couple home field advantage victories over Bucknell and Richmond. Maryland comes in this week as the #3 team in the nation looking to 3-0 for the sixth time under head coach John Tillman.

Boys’ Latin alum Logan Wisnauskas became just the fourth Terrapin in the past 10 seasons to score four goals in a season opener after finishing with four goals and an assist in Maryland’s 11-6 win over Bucknell on February 2.

Other players to keep note of today are senior goalie Danny Dolan. And on offense watch Connor Kelly on midfield and Jared Bernhardt at attack.

Maryland is 13-0 all-time against Penn, dating back to the first-ever meeting between the two schools in 1924.

Face-off is set for 1pm.

Can Loyola continue dominance against Johns Hopkins today at Homewood?

The prime time game of the weekend will take place at Homewood Field today at 2pm on ESPNU as #15 Johns Hopkins will host #2 Loyola University.

Today’s game will be the 56th between Johns Hopkins and Loyola. The series dates to a 20-1 Blue Jay victory in 1939.

JHU leads the all-time series 48-7, including a 14-13 overtime victory at Homewood Field in 2017.

The home team has won the last five games in the series.

Both teams opened their seasons last week. Hopkins fell to Towson, 17-8. But the Blue Jays are still well coached and loaded with talent. Keep an eye on Forry Smith and Kyle Marr on offense.

Pat Spencer had five goals and two assists, Kevin Lindley scored five himself and Jacob Stover (McDonogh) made 18 saves on Saturday as the Loyola opened its 2019 campaign with a 17-9 win over Virginia.

Spencer (Boys’ Latin) has recorded two or more points in all but two of the 52 games to start his collegiate career, and he has 31 multi-goal and 41 multi-assist games. He has scored a point in all 52 outings.
