Salisbury University women’s volleyball team fell to the Swarthmore Garnet in straight sets, 3-0, on Sept. 25, 2026, at Tarble Pavilion in Swarthmore, Pa. Swarthmore won 25-23, 25-19 and 25-18 to open the Swarthmore Invitational.
Kiley McTaggart led Salisbury University with 11 kills and 11 digs for her fourth double-double of the season and third in a row. Salisbury University hit .139 as a team, while Swarthmore hit .271.
Swarthmore Garnet Take First Two Sets
Swarthmore built a 19-14 lead in the opening set and reached set point at 24-20. Salisbury University scored the next three points to pull within one, including a kill from Sophia Tapia, but Isabel Adam ended the set with a kill for a 25-23 Swarthmore victory.
Salisbury University held a 14-11 advantage in the second set before Swarthmore scored eight consecutive points to take a 19-14 lead. Ella Tsai recorded the set-winning kill as the Garnet secured a 25-19 decision and a 2-0 match lead.
Swarthmore Garnet Complete the Sweep
Swarthmore opened the third set with an 8-0 run that turned a 6-5 lead into a 14-5 advantage. Salisbury University trimmed the deficit to 15-12, but the Garnet answered with four straight points and finished the match with a 25-18 win.
Adam delivered back-to-back kills to clinch the sweep. Amanda Meschi added nine kills and nine digs, narrowly missing a double-double.
Key Salisbury University Performances
Sophia Tapia recorded six kills and hit .313, the best hitting percentage among the Salisbury University players mentioned in the recap. Julie Altieri finished with 30 assists, four digs and one solo block, while Sophia Blaufuss added eight digs.
Salisbury University was scheduled to continue the Swarthmore Invitational on Sept. 26 against DeSales at 1:30 p.m. and Widener at 6:30 p.m.
