SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury University women’s soccer team opened the Salisbury University Classic at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex on Saturday with a 3-0 loss to the University of Lynchburg Hornets.
University of Lynchburg strikes early with two quick goals
The Hornets (3-0) surged ahead with two goals within the first 16 minutes and added a third goal in the 57th minute to secure the victory.
Salisbury University (0-3-1) competes in NCAA Division III and primarily belongs to the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference.
Salisbury University tallies four shots
Ava Wheeler and Lillian Hutchings each registered one shot on goal for Salisbury, while Brooke Spadin and Lauren Chesney each added a shot. Goalkeeper Katie Knapp started and made one save. Freshman Aley Martins played 21 minutes in the second half.
Salisbury closes out Classic against John Carroll
Salisbury faces John Carroll on Sunday, September 13, at noon inside the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex to conclude the Salisbury University Classic.
