Salisbury University women’s soccer fell 4-1 to the Bridgewater College Eagles on Saturday afternoon at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex in Salisbury, Maryland. Bridgewater scored four times in the first 34 minutes and carried a 4-0 lead into halftime.
The Eagles improved to 5-1-0, while Salisbury University dropped to 0-6-1. Salisbury controlled the second half and held an 8-5 shot advantage in the session, but could not erase the early deficit.
Bridgewater College Eagles Build Early Lead
Cassandra Villafan, Sophia Phillips, Kylie Denton and Lily Hewatt scored for Bridgewater College during the first half. Phillips received assists from Laura Narby and Brianna Curro, while Brianna Curro assisted on Denton’s goal and Kylie Denton assisted on Hewatt’s score.
Aley Martins made three stops for Salisbury University in the first half. Riley Kinzeler made one save in relief as the Sea Gulls limited Bridgewater after halftime.
Sophia Pierce Scores First Career Goal
Salisbury University broke through in the 61st minute when Sophia Pierce scored off a set piece. Callie Chesney and Rebecca Fairbanks assisted on the goal.
The goal marked the first of Pierce’s career. Chesney and Fairbanks each recorded their first assists of the season, while Chesney also registered her first point as a Sea Gull.
Audrey Kregelka and Brooke Spadin each recorded two shots for Salisbury University. The Sea Gulls next are scheduled to face the York College of Pennsylvania Spartans on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at 7 p.m.
