Salisbury University men’s soccer defeated Albertus Magnus College 5-0 Saturday afternoon at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex in Salisbury, Maryland, to win the Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament for the second time in program history.
Salisbury improved to 2-0-1, while Albertus Magnus fell to 1-2-0. The Sea Gulls finished the two-match tournament with an 8-0 goal differential and led in shots on goal, 11-1.
Salisbury University Men’s Soccer Builds Lead After Halftime
Salisbury took eight of the first nine shots and opened the scoring with just over a minute remaining in the first half. Brayden Dull drew a foul inside the box from Albertus Magnus goalkeeper Patrick Cavalieri, resulting in a penalty kick for Salisbury.
Peter Beil converted the penalty for his first collegiate goal, sending Salisbury into halftime with a 1-0 lead. The Sea Gulls then scored four times in the second half to secure the victory.
Eight minutes into the second half, Zach Johnson assisted Liam Pierce on a right-footed finish. Johnson later added another assist on David Brunetti’s header, giving Salisbury a 3-0 lead.
Dale Gordon extended the lead with a free kick from outside the box. Conor Moran’s shot then glanced off the crossbar and fell to Jake Trama, who finished Salisbury’s fifth goal.
Contributions From Across the Lineup
Brunetti finished the weekend with two goals and one assist, including one goal on four shots against Albertus Magnus. Johnson recorded two assists in the match after scoring his first career goal the previous day.
Gordon recorded his fifth career goal and made his 57th consecutive start. Pierce scored his second goal of the weekend on two shots, while Trama recorded his third career goal.
Nate Jones made one save over 74 minutes before Will Noble finished the match as Salisbury’s goalkeeper. Albertus Magnus did not score, and Salisbury limited the Falcons to one shot on goal.

Salisbury will participate in the Seahawk Classic in St. Mary’s City, Maryland. The Sea Gulls face Lehman on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 4:30 p.m. inside Jaime L. Roberts Stadium.
Salisbury competes in NCAA Division III and holds primary membership in the Coast-to-Coast Athletic Conference.
