Salisbury Men’s Soccer Opens Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament with 3-0 Win Over Eastern Mennonite

Salisbury University men’s soccer team opened the Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament with a 3-0 victory over Eastern Mennonite University on September 4, 2026, at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex in Salisbury, Maryland. Salisbury University entered the match with a 1-0-1 record, while Eastern Mennonite University came in at 0-2-0.

The Sea Gulls scored twice during the first 18 minutes before David Brunetti added the final goal in the 66th minute. Brunetti also assisted on Liam Pierce’s opening goal, recording his first career assist as a Sea Gull.

Salisbury Builds Early Lead

Liam Pierce put Salisbury ahead in the seventh minute, with assists from David Brunetti and Conor Moran. Zach Johnson extended the lead in the 18th minute with his first career goal, assisted by Dale Gordon.

Salisbury held a 10-3 advantage in first-half shots, including a 5-1 edge in shots on target, and led Eastern Mennonite 3-1 in first-half corner kicks.

Brunetti Adds Third Goal

Nate Jones made four saves during the first 20 minutes of the second half as Eastern Mennonite increased offensive pressure. He finished with five saves to preserve Salisbury’s shutout.

Brunetti scored in the 66th minute after catching the Eastern Mennonite goalkeeper off the line. Salisbury finished with 15 shots, including 10 on target, while Eastern Mennonite recorded eight shots and five on target.

Salisbury closed out the 3-0 victory with a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks. The win marked the program’s opening result in the Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament.

Salisbury is scheduled to face Albertus Magnus at noon on September 5, 2026, at the Gerry DiBartolo Sea Gull Soccer Complex as part of the Elmer Lord Memorial Tournament.
