Salisbury University Men’s Soccer Defeats Lehman College Lightning 3-0 to Open Seahawk Classic

Salisbury University men’s soccer extended its winning streak to three matches with a dominant 3-0 victory against the Lehman College Lightning on Saturday evening, Sept. 12, at Jaime L. Roberts Stadium on the campus of St. Mary’s College of Maryland in St. Mary’s City, Md. Salisbury improved to 3-0-1, while Lehman fell to 0-1-1.

Salisbury led 1-0 at halftime and added two more goals after the break. The Sea Gulls outshot Lehman 34-5 and recorded eight shots on goal. The victory also marked Salisbury’s third consecutive shutout.

Salisbury University Men’s Soccer Takes Early Lead

Salisbury controlled the early chances, taking 10 of the match’s first 14 shots. Yasseen Mohamed assisted Kai Lindsay on the opening goal, with Lindsay scoring on a right-footed shot. Both Lindsay and Mohamed recorded their first career goals in the match, each finishing with one goal and one assist. Mohamed later scored Salisbury’s third goal with Lindsay providing the assist.

Sea Gulls Add Two Goals After Halftime

Zach Johnson assisted Liam Pierce on Salisbury’s second goal after halftime. Pierce scored in his third consecutive match, while Johnson recorded his third assist over the last two matches. Mohamed completed the scoring with Lindsay providing the assist. Salisbury maintained its three-goal advantage for the remainder of the match.

Salisbury Extends Defensive Streak

Goalkeeper Nate Jones and Salisbury’s defensive group recorded their third consecutive shutout. Through four matches, Salisbury has outscored its opponents 12-1, with the only goal allowed coming on an own goal.
