Richard Bleier placed on injured list

The Baltimore Orioles added another player to the 10-day injured list Thursday. This time, relief pitcher, Richard Bleier, will be added due to shoulder tendinitis.

Following surgery on a torn left lat last June, Bleier felt he was ready coming out of spring. Bleier made his last appearance on Tuesday, where he gave up four runs, later stating he felt discomfort in his left shoulder following that outing.

After sustaining such a serious injury and being only 10 months removed from surgery, it is no surprise that Bleier is not quite ready to compete at the high level he is capable of doing. When healthy, Bleier is the top dog in the Orioles bullpen, where before his surgery last year he showed himself as one of the top relievers in baseball.

Bleier hopes to make a full recovery before returning and looks to regain his 2018 form. Before his surgery last year, Bleier recorded a 1.97 ERA and was one of the very few highlights of that historically bad Orioles team.

Tanner Scott was called up from Norfolk to replace the spot left open by Bleier on Thursday.
