Redskins Release Recently Signed Wideouts Stewart and Henderson

The Washington Redskins have started to trim their roster after going 7-9 and missing the playoffs for the third straight year.

Wideouts Ardarius Stewart and Carlos Henderson were cut on Monday, just six days after the pair signed futures contracts that would have given them a shot at competing for roster spots next year.

Henderson was a big story toward the end of the season due to a series of Redskins injuries at the position.

Both Stewart and Henderson were third-round picks in 2017. They have a lot of upside, but they failed to earn spots on the Jets and Broncos rosters respectively.

As of now, Washington has not commented on the move.
