Recap: Orioles Fall to Yankees 6-4, Lose Series

The Baltimore Orioles were defeated by the New York Yankees by a score of 6-4 on April 6th, 2019. As of now, the Orioles stand at 4-4, while the Yankees also hold a 4-4 win-loss record. After this game, the Yankees were able to take the series after defeating Baltimore on April 4th by a score of 8-4. Orioles hurler Dylan Bundy pitched 3 2/3 innings, threw two strikeouts, gave up six hits, three earned runs, and walked two batters.

To summarize, in the top of the first, Aaron Judge homered to center field to give the Yankees a 1-0 lead, which opened the scoring for New York. Then, in the bottom of the first, outfielder Trey Mancini homered to right field for his fourth long ball of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Moment later, in the top of the third, Aaron Judge would once again send a long ball into the seats to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead(scoring Brett Gardner). In the bottom of the fifth, Renato Nunez singled on a line drive to score Cedric Mullins, and he advanced Joey Rickard to 2nd to trim the New York lead to 3-2. Afterward, Baltimore would take the lead with two consecutive runs to give themselves a 4-3 lead. However, the offense would not be enough for the Orioles as Clint Frazier homered to left field to score Gleyber Torres and DJ LeMahieu which would give the Yankees a 6-4 win.

The Orioles will face off against the Yankees once again on April 7th, 2019 in their series finale as they look to avoid the sweep. The pitching matchup is scheduled to be RHP David Hess(1-0, 0.00 ERA) going up against RHP Domingo German(1-0, 0.00 ERA). Afterward, Baltimore will take on the Oakland Athletics in a four game series beginning on April 8th, 2019. Lastly, the Orioles have yet to announce their starting pitchers of each game for the series against Oakland.
