Recap: Nats Bats and Good Pitching leads to a Win
The Nationals came into St. Louis on a five game losing streak in need of a win. The Nats welcomed new additions Josh Bell, Josh Harrison, and Kyle Schwarber to the lineup. These additions provided a spark that led to the curly W for the Nats.
Erick Fedde took the mound tonight tossing a 4 2/3IP 2H 1ER 2BB 5K’s outing. The bullpen helped carried the load to end the game tossing a combined 4 1/3IP 4H 1BB 6K’s. The Nats were carried with their bats tonight, having a combined 12 hits. Leading the charge was Juan Soto, Kyle Schwarber, and Starlin Castro. Soto went 3-4 with a walk and driving in the first run of the game. Schwarber went 2-5 while driving in a RBI. Castro drove in two RBI’s. Andrew Stevenson also came up clutch with a pinch hit Home Run in the 7th inning, stretching the lead to 4-2.
The Nats will look to take a series win tomorrow in St. Louis. First pitch is scheduled at 7:45PM. The Nats will be sending out Stephen Strasburg, while the Cardinals will be sending out Jack Flaherty.
