Recap: Nationals lose to Pirates, 4-3

The Washington Nationals lost to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday afternoon in regular season action. The Nats’ record currently stands at 7-7. The Pirates record moves to 8-6.

Max Scherzer pitched a very strong eight innings for Washington. Scherzer allowed 7 hits and 7 strikeouts while pitching. Wander Suero struggled while pitching for Washington, allowing 1 hit and 1 strikeout.

Offensively, the long ball ruled for Washington. At the bottom of the first inning, 2nd baseman Howie Kendrick doubled to deep center and right fielder Adam Eaton scored. At the bottom of the third, Anthony Rendon grounded out to third and Adam Eaton scored. At the bottom of the third, left fielder Juan Soto singled to the left and Kendrick scored.

On Tuesday, the Nationals will face the San Francisco Giants for the first of a three game series at 7:05pm EST at Nationals Park in Washington D.C,. Pitching for the Nationals will be Stephen Strasburg.
