Rays double up O’s, 4-2

St. Petersburg — The first-place Tampa Bay Rays continued their winning ways Tuesday night, doubling up the Orioles, 4-2, at Tropicana Field.

The Rays got a big game at the plate from right fielder Avisal Garcia, who finished 3-for-4 with a home run and 3 RBI.

With the O’s leading, 2-0, in the 4th inning Orioles starter Dylan Bundy (L, 0-2) issued a leadoff walk to left fielder Tommy Pham.

Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi followed Pham with a double, pushing Pham to third. Third baseman Yandy Diaz drove in Pham wth a sacrifice fly to RF, cutting the lead to one.

Bundy then struck out second baseman Brandon Lowe, but then surrendered a long two-run homer to Garcia, giving the Rays a 3-2 lead.

Bundy allowed three hits, three runs, walking two and striking out five over five innings of work.

Rays starter Tyler Glasnow (W, 4-0) had some early issues but settled down as the game went on.

Glasnow allowed a run in the top of the 1st on an RBI single by Orioles third baseman Rio Ruiz.

Baltimore would strike again in the 3rd inning on an RBI double by designated hitter Renato Nunez.

Glasnow would pitch seven innings, allowing seven hits, but none after the 4th inning.

Garcia would tack on an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th with a two-out RBI single off right hander Miguel Castro.

The Orioles will continue their series with the Rays tomorrow evening. David Hess (1-2, 3.32) will take the mound for the Birds.
