Ravens sign WR Deon Cain to reserve/futures contract
The Baltimore Ravens have already made their acquisition at the wide receiver position of the 2021 offseason with the signing of third-year pro Deon Cain to a reserve/futures contract.
He most recently played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was originally drafted by Indianapolis in the sixth round of the 2018 draft out of Clemson where he starred and caught 58 passes for 724 receiving yards and six touchdowns as a junior before deciding to go pro.
Cain missed his rookie season with a torn ACL that he suffered amidst a strong training camp and caught four passes for 52 yards in the first seven games to start his second season.
He has spent most of the past two years with the Steelers where he recorded five catches for 72 yards in six games in 2019 and was on Pittsburgh’s practice squad for most of 2020.
The 6-foot-2, 202-pounder was viewed by many pundits as a steal the year he was drafted. He was buried on the Steelers stacked wide receiver depth chart for the past two seasons but will have a chance to show what he’s got and compete for a role with the Ravens when the team reconvenes at the onset of the offseason program.
