Ravens Sign New Kicker to Roster

Cameron Nizialek punting at Georgia

The Baltimore Ravens signed kicker/punter Cameron Nizialek to the 90 man roster. Nizialek played his college ball at Columbia and Georgia and averaged 45 yards per punt and went 9 for 16 on field goal tries. He most recently played for the Atlanta Legends in the now defunct AAF averaging 47.4 yards per punt. He did not kick during his stretch in the AAF

The Ravens released punter Sean Smith last week and signed Nizialek. Since Nizialek both punts and kicks he will provide a respite for both Koch and Tucker.

After kicker/punter Kaare Vedvick was traded to the Vikings the Ravens have been looking for a replacement. They initially signed Smith but since he was exclusively a punter, the Ravens released him to sign another “dual threat”.

The Ravens will be practicing this weekend before taking it on the road to Philadelphia where they will have joint practices prior to Thursdays preseason game. This signing gives them the resources to make sure that Sam Koch and Justin Tucker don’t overstress their kicking legs since there will be plenty of reps.
