Ravens Sign Derrick Henry to Two-Year Deal

The Baltimore Ravens signed running back Derrick Henry to a two-year deal worth up to $20 million dollars on Tuesday, $9 million of it guaranteed.

Henry has been one of the best running backs in the NFL since being drafted out of the University of Alabama in 2016 to the Tennessee Titans. In his eight seasons in Tennessee, Henry has been nothing but consistent starting with his health. Henry has only missed than two games in a season once, and has rushed for over 1,000 yards five times. Henry, the 2020 NFL Offensive player of the year after rushing for over 2,000 yards, has led the NFL twice in rushing yards and touchdowns (2019, 2020), while also being named to four Pro Bowls.

Just last season Henry rushed for 1,167 yards, second most in the NFL, while adding 12 touchdowns on 280 carries. Henry also had his second best season as a pass catcher as he caught 28 passes for 214. Only 2022 was better for Henry as he caught 33 passes for 398 yards that season. In his career Henry has amassed 9,502 total rushing yards, 90 total touchdowns, while also having a career 4.7 yard average per rush attempt.

The Ravens had a slow start to free agency as they had made only one signing prior to the Henry deal, but patience paid off for the Ravens and GM Eric DeCosta. Henry and the Ravens have been linked to each other for months as the two sides nearly came together before the trade deadline last season. Henry the 2015 Heisman Trophy will now join the 2016 Heisman Trophy winner in Lamar Jackson as the two most efficient offensive players over the last several seasons will now be in one backfield.
