Rasmus Placed on DL, Yacabonis Called Up

The Baltimore Orioles made a slight roster move this morning, placing outfielder Colby Rasmus on the 10 day disabled list and calling up relief pitcher, Jimmy Yacabonis from Norfolk.

Rasmus is dealing with a left hip flexor strain, but everyone knows it’s because he’s been absolutely terrible at the plate so far this season, going 2-21 at the plate, with a whopping 13 strikeouts.

Yacabonis, a 26 year old righty, came up late in the season last year and notched a 4.35 ERA and 0.57 K/BB in 20.2 innings pitched.

Yacabonis is going to be a middle reliever while up in Baltimore, coming in when needed to keep Mychal Givens’ and others’ arms healthy for the long haul of the season.

Rasmus was signed to be the latest in the revolving door at right field, but so far that experiment has failed. Expect rookie Anthony Santander to start in right and eventually “Wally Pip” Rasmus.
