Prospect Spotlight: Jordan Westburg
This edition of the Prospect Spotlight highlights Infielder Jordan Westburg. Westburg was selected as a shortstop with the 30th pick of the 2020 MLB Draft out of Mississippi State. Jordan is currently ranked as the 5th best prospect in the Baltimore Orioles according to MLB Pipeline, and the 6th best prospect according to Baseball America. Westburg is also ranked nationally as 80th according to MLB Pipeline and 93rd according to Baseball America.
This season Jordan has split his time between the Bowie Baysox and the Norfolk Tides hitting .263 with 21 home-runs and 80 runs batted in playing second base, third base, and shortstop. The floor for Jordan seems to be an occasional utility player or injury fill in at the Major League level. The ceiling for Jordan is as a 30-35 home-run hitter and a multiple time All-Star. The earliest Jordan could be with the Major League roster is the September Call-ups, the realistic scenario for him would be to start breaking camp out of spring training next year.
