Prospect Spotlight: Cade Povich
This edition of the Prospect Spotlight will cover left handed pitcher Cade Povich. Povich was acquired by the Baltimore Orioles in a trade that sent closer Jorge Lopez to the Minnesota Twins. Cade Povich is a former 3rd round draft pick in the 2021 MLB draft out of the University of Nebraska. Povich was announced as the Orioles Minor League Pitcher of the Month for August. Currently, Cade is ranked as the 15th best prospect in the Orioles farm system according to MLB Pipeline and 29th according to Baseball America.
This season Povich has spent his time between three different minor league teams between HIgh-A and Double-A. Before being traded to the Orioles Cade pitched for the Cedar Rapids Kernels in the Twins organization. After the trade, Povich has pitched for the Aberdeen Ironbirds and the Bowie Baysox. In eighteen games this year Povich has pitched to a record of 8-8 with a 3.87 ERA and opponents batting average of .219.
