Penn State Tops Maryland

Penn State was able to even the season series back up with the Terps, beating Maryland, 74-70 last night.

Cowan Jr. led Maryland with 15 points.  Huerter and Fernando put in 13 apiece.  Morsell chipped in 10.  The best performance of the night was Jared Nickens.  The senior dropped 13 and hit multiple big shots at the end of the game.  The Terps shot an impressive 54% from the field, along with 9-17 from deep.  The defense was god awful however.

Lamar Stevens went off for 25, shooting 10-12 from the field, who would’ve guessed.  Three other players scored double figures as well.  Tony Carr, 16, Josh Reaves, 14, Mike Watkins, 11.

Maryland drops to 16-10 and 5-8 in the Big Ten.  The injury plagued season has killed the Terps.  No depth, young kids, etc.  Give the Terrapins Justin Jackson and all those 1-5 point losses would be W’s.  That’s not the case however, and there is no reason to make excuses.  With this loss, Maryland is going to have to basically win the Big Ten tourney to achieve a postseason berth.  Anything is possible though, so no one should entirely give up hope.  Crazier things have happened in the past.

Terps have got some work to do.
