O’s call up MLB’s #1 prospect Jackson Holliday

The Baltimore Orioles have struggled on offense so far in 2024. They’re coming off a series in Pittsburgh in which they hit below .200 with RISP. The bottom of the lineup is cold, and they’re struggling with consistency overall. The team finally decided to call up baseball’s #1 prospect Jackson Holliday to help. It’s time folks, the kid’s finally here!

Holliday has skyrocketed through the minors since being drafted in 2022. The former #1 overall pick spent a year in rookie ball before advancing each level in the minors in 2023. Holliday hit .323/.442/.941 in the minor leagues last season while showing little signs of failure. Many fans believed he should have made the big-league roster to start 2024. He was very impressive, hitting .311/.354/.954 in 15 games down in Sarasota.

Orioles fans will get their wish after a few weeks of complaining. Baseball expert Jeff Passan broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) about Holliday’s promotion.

As mentioned earlier, the promotion was likely made due to offensive inconsistency. Holliday plays multiple positions on the infield, and that’s where most of the struggles have come. Ramon Urias is hitting a mere .091/.130/.221 this season. Newly acquired Oriole Tony Kemp is also struggling, having not recorded a hit this season for the O’s. Jackson Holliday will quickly join the starting lineup with young infielder Gunnar Henderson, who won AL ROY last season.

Orioles fans can rejoice, the wait is finally over. But let’s not forget, he won’t be the last one to come up. The O’s still have tons of young talent destroying triple-A who are ready in a moments notice. Buckle up Birdland.
