O’s acquire RHP Yohan Ramirez from Mets in exchange for cash

The Baltimore Orioles have made a move just before their game against the Red Sox. The main goal is to secure the sweep against Boston, but the team made a move outside of the diamond. The New York Mets have officially traded Yohan Ramirez to the O’s. New York will get cash considerations in return, per Roch Kubatko.

It’s been a season to forget for Ramirez, who only appeared in three games. He went 0-1 with an 11.81 ERA with nine hits and four walks. Ramirez only pitched 5.1 innings however, so it’s a small sample size. He’s appeared in 105 career games across six MLB teams.

Ramirez’s best season came in his debut season in 2020. He pitched to a 2.61 ERA with nine hits, six runs and 26 strikeouts in 20.2 innings pitched. His career-high in appearances was in 2023 when he made 31 with the Pirates and White Sox. The Houston Astros signed Ramirez as an international free agent and 2016, and the Mariners selected him in the 2019 rule-five draft.
