Orioles trade Tommy Malone to the Atlanta Braves

With the trade deadline looming, it was clear that Mike Elias and Brandon Hyde were not going trade just “for the sake of trading.”

Evidently, they found trade value in Tommy Malone. The Orioles traded Malone to the Atlanta Braves for two players to be named later.

Malone struggled in the Opening Day game against the Red Sox for a few innings. However, once he started to settle down he became a reliable pitcher for the Orioles.

Malone carried a 3.99 earned run average and recorded thirty one strikeouts prior to getting traded.

I am interested to see what Elias and Hyde have planned for this team. I believe that this trade might work out in the Orioles’ favor, but we will just have to wait and see.
