Orioles sign Valentin to minor league deal

The Baltimore Orioles have announced today that they have signed infielder, Jesmuel Valentin, to a minor league deal. Valentin has officially been assigned to Double-A Bowie.

Valentin, 24, made his major league debut with the Philadelphia Phillies last year, where he hit .177/.258/.304 in 89 plate appearances. He is a career .260/.345/.379 hitter in parts of seven minor league seasons.

Valentin was drafted by the the Los Angeles Dodgers number 51 overall in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft. He was traded to Philadelphia in 2014, in which the Dodgers acquired right-handed pitcher Roberto Hernandez.
