Orioles lose nail-biter 6-5: Recap 5/23/19

The Orioles took the field for game four of this series against the Yankees, and yet again the O’s fell just short.

Dylan Bundy took the mound, and through the first four innings looked solid. Bundy ended up tossing 5.2 innings, allowing three runs. Despite the three runs, Bundy did strike out five and allowed just one home run.

The Orioles drew first blood in the second inning, when Richie Martin beat out a double play attempt that scored Renato Nunez to take a 1-0 lead.

Dylan Bundy let up a home run in the fifth that tied the game at one. Bundy’s day would end after he let up a two RBI single that gave the Yankees a 3-1 lead in the sixth.

The Orioles entered the eighth inning trailing 5-1, and that is when it got interesting. Trey Mancini singled in a run to make it 5-2. Renato Nunez continued his hot hitting against the Yankees with another three-run homer to tie the game at 5-5.

In the top of the ninth, Mychal Givens came on looking to keep the game tied. Givens loaded the bases and failed to record the final out by walking in the winning run.

The Orioles failed to come back in the ninth, and the Yankees walked away with a 6-5 victory. Givens recorded the loss (0-2).

Catch the Orioles Friday as they travel to Colorado to take on the Rockies at 8:40 pm.
