Orioles Fall to Red Sox 10-3

The Baltimore Orioles continue to struggle, as they dropped the second game of the four-game set with the Boston Red Sox  10-3.

 

1st Inning

The Red Sox got off to a quick start in the first inning. Andrew Benintendi drove in Mookie Betts on an RBI double to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead after two batters. Hanley Ramirez then hit a two-run home run to extend the lead to 3-0 before Alex Cobb could record an out.

 

3rd Inning

In the bottom of the third inning, J.D. Martinez launched his third home run of the year to extend the Boston lead to 4-0.

 

4th Inning

Andrew Benintendi continued the scoring for the Red Sox with a two-RBI single in the fourth inning to make it 6-0 Boston. Hanley Ramirez then followed with a RBI double to stretch the lead to 7-0. J.D. Martinez then reached on a fielding error by Manny Machado to bring the lead to 8-0 Red Sox.

 

5th Inning

Pedro Álvarez hit his second home run of the season in the top of the fifth inning, making the score 8-2 Boston.

 

 

6th Inning

J.D. Martinez continued his slaughtering of the Orioles with a RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning to stretch the lead to 9-2.

 

7th Inning

Blake Swihart singled in a run in the bottom of the seventh to stretch the Red Sox lead to 10-2.

 

9th Inning

Chance Sisco recorded an RBI groundout in the bottom of the ninth innings to bring the score to 10-3.

 

Alex Cobb struggled in his Orioles debut, lasting 3.2 innings while allowing eight runs (seven earned) and giving up 10 hits. Red Sox starter Hector Velázquez pitched well, throwing five innings while allowing two runs and striking out five in a winning effort.

 

The Orioles and Red Sox will square off again tomorrow afternoon at 1:05PM ET. Dylan Bundy will take the mound for the Orioles against Chris Sale of the Red Sox.
